All I want for Christmas is a new right eye
So, on Tuesday I was getting Livvy ready for bed. She was standing in front of me as I sat on the floor, getting her into her PJs, when she threw her arms up and out...
...and poked me DIRECTLY in the eye.
I immediately grabbed my eye and started grimacing (wouldn't you??) and she got all concerned (what a sweety :) I told her it was okay, that I knew she didn't mean it, and proceded to finish her bedtime routine. (Bottle of milk, soft music, etc.)
Later, when Silvia got home from work, I was still in discomfort. (Not really in pain, it was more of an itch/tickle) We eventually called the on-call physician, and met him at the clinic on base. Turns out I have an abrasion (which is worse than a scratch, I guess) on my cornea. It was apparently about 3mm in diameter, which is pretty big. It took forever to fall asleep Tuesday night, because the eyedrops they gave me to numb the pain/itch/tickle kept wearing off after 20 mins or so.
Anyway, I pretty much couldn't open my right eye all day yesterday, and I couldn't really open my left (good) eye either, b/c it made me squint my right eye more, which was not comfortable.
So, I was essentially blind all day yesterday.
Today, I'm much better. I can keep both eyes open now, (though my right eye is still kinda blurry) which is why I'm able to type this entry. I don't have to go on alert again till Sunday, and I should be fine by then. Besides, I'll just make my deputy drive as usual :)
Aside from all that, we all have colds, too. Who needs cold/flu season when you've got a 1-yr-old in daycare?
